My name is Kathelin Diaz and I am raising money to help my cousin Jorge Tavarez with the unthinkable. My cousin is living every parent's worst nightmare of losing a child unexpectedly. Madeline Tavarez was only 6 years old and would have turned 7 on February 20th.

Both growing up in NYC, our families always maintained a very united front, and I have countless memories of just being carefree kids and then young adults with my cousin Jorge and our siblings. It hurts me deeply to see him in so much pain. My heart is also breaking for the innocent child and family member we lost. Madeline did not deserve what happened to her; she had her whole life ahead of her, and we are all devastated that we couldn't save her.

Before this tragedy, my cousin was on a path to change and better his life for all of his children. He was lifting up others with the word of the Lord and changing his old bad habits to healthier ones. I truly hope God continues to give Jorge the strength he needs to adjust to this devastating reality.

Madeline was a wonderful child who lit up every room she entered. She was absolutely obsessed with her father, a daddy's girl indeed. She loved to pray, draw, and sing, and she loved to spend time with her older siblings, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Her beautiful spirit will live on forever in our hearts, and we pray that her soul rests in eternal paradise. Madeline, we thank you for the immense joy you brought to everybody in the short amount of time we had you, and we know we will see you again.

No amount of money will bring Madeline back, but any financial assistance will help to alleviate the hardships at hand and to come. If you are able to assist in any way, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Le encantaba rezar, dibujar y cantar, y pasar tiempo con sus hermanos mayores, abuelos, tías y tíos. Su hermoso espíritu vivirá para siempre en nuestros corazones, y rezamos para que su alma descanse en el paraíso eterno. Madeline, te damos las gracias por la inmensa alegría que nos diste a todos en el poco tiempo que te tuvimos, y sabemos que volveremos a verte.
