Hello everyone!
My name is Jordan Perez, and I’m a Civil & Environmental Engineering student at the University of Virginia. I was recently accepted into UVA’s Global Technology Consulting program in Mendoza, Argentina this upcoming January Term, and I’m raising funds to help make this opportunity possible.
This two-week program gives UVA students the chance to work directly with Argentine wineries, analyzing real business challenges and developing technology-based solutions to improve operations and sustainability. It’s a unique opportunity to gain hands-on consulting experience in an international setting which combines my interests in engineering, problem-solving and sustainability.
The total program cost is $9,000, and I’m hoping to raise $6,500 to help cover a portion of the expenses, which include:
- Round-trip travel to Mendoza, Argentina
- Housing and meals for two weeks
- Program tuition and fees
- Field visits and project materials
Although I attend UVA on a full merit-based scholarship, this short-term study abroad program isn’t covered by my scholarship or by UVA’s financial aid. I’m also applying to as many scholarships and grants as possible to offset the cost, but I still need additional support to make this experience possible.
I currently work multiple part-time jobs to support myself during the school year, and I’m determined to make this trip happen because it represents so much more than just class credit but also a chance to gain global consulting experience, earn credits toward graduation and connect more deeply with my family’s Latin American roots.
Please only consider donating if you’re in a position to do so comfortably. Even small contributions help, and simply sharing this page with others who might be interested in supporting makes a difference.
Thank you for taking the time to read this page and support my journey. I look forward to bringing back what I learn in Argentina and applying it to my future work in engineering and sustainability.
– Jordan Perez
