Hi, my name is Lynda Manns and I’m creating this GoFundMe for Jordan, My coworker Amanda’s husband during an incredibly scary and uncertain time in their lives. He is a civilian Firefighter for Fort Bragg
Toward the end of October and beginning of November, Jordan started having trouble keeping food down. What began as a slight tickle in his throat quickly turned into coughing spells that caused gagging and, most times, vomiting whenever he tried to eat. Not long after, he began experiencing hard, uncomfortable heart palpitations.
They immediately started seeing doctors. Jordan went through multiple appointments with both gastrointestinal and heart specialists. He endured numerous tests, including an endoscopy, colonoscopy, and even wore a heart monitor after one doctor suspected his heart may have shifted slightly. Despite all of this, no clear answers were found.
The only area that had not been examined was a section of his intestine that cannot be seen through standard scopes. His GI doctor recommended an MRI enterography, but due to the complexity, they were referred from Fayetteville to UNC.
During the MRI appointment at UNC, Jordan struggled to lie flat due to constant coughing and discomfort. While trying to complete the scan, the technician noticed something concerning and contacted the radiologist. Although the MRI was focused on his intestines, they could see the bottom of his lungs — where fluid and a small mass were visible. Because this wasn’t what the scan was intended to evaluate, they couldn’t determine exactly what it was, but possibilities included pneumonia or a blood clot.
They immediately walked them straight to the emergency room.
At the ER, a chest X-ray revealed something far more alarming: a cancerous mass larger than a tennis ball on his lung. Doctors told them it appeared to be fast-growing.
Jordan’s condition worsened rapidly. By the Monday before the MRI — around January 12th — he felt so sick that he asked his wife to come home from work just to be with him. Anyone who knows Jordan knows he never asks for things like that, which made it even more frightening.
They are now facing ongoing tests, oncology specialist visits, and an unknown road ahead. Between medical bills, travel to UNC, missed work, and day-to-day expenses, the financial burden is becoming overwhelming on top of the emotional stress.
We are asking for help to cover:
• Medical bills and diagnostic testing
• Travel and lodging related to UNC appointments
• Lost income due to missed work (4.5 month recovery)
• Everyday living expenses while Jordan focuses on his health
Any donation, no matter the amount, and even sharing this fundraiser means more than we can express. Your support allows them to focus on getting answers and helping Jordan fight whatever lies ahead.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your prayers, kindness, and support.
