Hey there! If you're reading this, I need your help! I am a 26-year-old aviation enthusiast and pilot who is trying to get my wings back!
When I was in high school, I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life, and my parents encouraged me to look for jobs in my local area that I would be passionate about. I went to construction companies, financial firms, and medical fields to see what I wanted to do. As I was looking, I stumbled upon the airport and looked to see if aviation management would be something of interest to me. When I walked in, I was greeted by a flight instructor, and before long, he told me the joys and fun of his time soaring through the sky. Before I knew it, I was up in the air with him on an introductory flight, and my passion and spark were ignited. I scraped up any money I could to help me fly—from my parents, grandparents, and working two jobs to get more hours. The more I learned, the more insatiable my desire for aviation became. I went to college for professional flight, and I completed my private pilot license in 4.5 months and my instrument rating in 8 months, and was on track to complete commercial in less than a year.
During that same year, I was driving back home, and I experienced a medical episode that put me on the tarmac, unable to fly for two years. While I waited for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to clear my medical episode, I continued to learn to fly and work full-time. I worked 50-hour work weeks at two jobs while going to school full-time and completing every class available in aviation before I was told I was no longer able to continue due to the lack of my aviation medical. I decided to push for my medical to be renewed, and I spent a lot of my time talking to the FAA aeromedical division on status updates, as well as taking exams and tests at a clinic to find the root cause of my medical issues. After three years of waiting, I have finally gotten my medical back, but with one problem—I took a lot out of my piggy bank on those medical bills, and now I need financial help to fly.
That is where you come in to help! I am looking to complete my commercial license with a multi-engine rating and work my way up to the airlines and help you get to your vacation destinations safely in every way I can! So you might be asking, how did I come up with my numbers for financial assistance?
I currently have 160 hours of flight time, and I need 250 to get my license, so I am looking at 90 hours of flight time to gain before I can get my commercial license.
The typical aircraft rental cost in my area is about $125/hr of flight time, with an instructor rate of about $60/hr.
90 hrs of flight time x $125/hr = $11,250
90 hrs with a $60/hr flight instructor = $5,400
Multi-engine rating with instructor = $7,000
Total cost for me to complete my dream = $23,650
I plan to continue flying with that same passion and effort, and I plan to work towards my goal and continue to put my money towards it as well! I believe in working for what you are given, and I will make sure your assistance never goes to waste! Any help I get will be graciously shown through my continuous hard work and dedication to completing my dream career!
I thank you for taking the time to read my story. You are a gem and a scholar for helping me through this journey :)
Your future commercial aviator,
Jordan D
