Hello to everyone. My name is Jordan Muhammad. I'm 23, and this is my story. On Feb 25th of this year, I never would have thought that my life as I know it would change dramatically. I was at work doing security, and without thought and a lack of gun awareness on my end, I stepped up on the bar to get a better view of the security cameras with my weapon off safety and one in the chamber. I had my weapon pointed down away from my upper body, and I noticed the car in the video that we alleged was in an incident a few days prior was caught on camera. I was stepping down off the bar to inform the manager and my boss that I just viewed the car on camera. I stepped onto the cooler beside the bar and slipped. As I was falling and trying to catch myself, my weapon turned upwards and discharged. The bullet struck me in the upper part of my chest and blew through my carotid artery and damaged my C5, C6, T1 through T6. Thanks to my higher power, the employees and friends were quick on their feet and immediately called 911 and applied pressure to my wounds. I'm grateful for those that helped me and the Regional One trauma unit and first responders. I'm still in the land of the living with a new outlook on life and gun awareness. Medically, I was told that I'm a quadriplegic. I'm not claiming that. I know if the Most High brought me this far, that He's not done with me.
I'm here because my family will need help getting me a handicap accessible van and things that my insurance will not help with. I hope that I will be able to go to Atlanta and meet the staff at Shepherd's facility in hopes that they will be able to help me in my journey. I want to go, but my mother worries and my father worries about how the bills will get taken care of. If you are reading this and want to help, please donate whatever you can help with. All donations are welcome and appreciated to the utmost. Thank you, and may God bless you all. I will be an inspiration to all that are traveling the same journey.
