Last week on October 29th, my younger brother, Jordan McCloskey, got hit by a car while he and his girlfriend, Lauren, were out on a walk. They decided to head home and were about to walk up the hill on Bellefonte Avenue in Lock Haven right after the McDonald's when an elderly woman whipped around the turn with no turn signal on, driving on the wrong side of the road, and struck my brother. She was so far on the wrong side of the road that my brother was inches away from the sidewalk they were walking to after they crossed the road. When she hit him, she sent him flying onto the sidewalk. Luckily, she did stop to check on him and even drove him to the hospital afterward. However, she definitely shouldn’t have moved him since they didn’t know how hurt he was. Fortunately, he didn’t have a concussion or any internal bleeding, but he didn’t walk away from the accident unscathed. His humerus in his left arm is fractured, and the tibia in his left leg is fractured. His leg fracture was so severe that he needed surgery to realign his knee and is now in a full leg cast. The surgery went well, and he’s now home healing up, but he has to stay off his leg for 2 to 3 months. That means he can’t go to work for the next couple of months. The woman’s insurance company got ahold of my brother and told him that they’d pay a maximum of $5,000 for his medical bills and 80% of lost wages, but that caps at $1,000 per month, which is why I’m setting up this GoFundMe. I’m trying to raise money for medical bills and monthly expenses for him. He is going to contact a lawyer to see what his options are for fighting the insurance company, but these things aren’t cheap, and I don’t want to see him fall behind because of this unfortunate situation he’s in. I know times are tough for many of us right now, but any little bit you can donate will help out tremendously. Also, if you could share this GoFundMe, whether you are able to donate or not, we’d really appreciate it. It could help us reach more people who are able to donate, and every little bit adds up.
