Support Jordan & Kawehi's Embryo Adoption Journey

Donation protected
Jordan and I have kept this pretty close to our chest the past few years. But there are some exciting things coming and we feel it’s finally time to let everyone in on this part of our lives.

OUR STORY
When we got married, we always knew kids were in our future, though we weren’t sure when. When we finally started trying at the beginning of 2023, we kept it to ourselves, hoping for that “typical” pregnancy story where we’d get to surprise everyone with the news. Things just didn’t go as we hoped. Eventually we decided to seek medical advice. After some time and testing, we learned that both of us have contributing factors to our infertility. This is when we found out that we would never be able to have biological children. It was devastating, and one of the hardest things to mourn was the loss of experiencing pregnancy (something we selfishly longed for).

In the moments of trying to grieve, we started opening up and seeking prayer and wise council. A close friend told us about the unique opportunity of embryo adoption, and it changed everything. It felt like a door opened we hadn’t expected but one that made so much sense. We’ve always believed adoption would be part of our story someday—God’s heart for orphans is so clear in Scripture, and we’ve both felt a deep calling to adopt for as long as we can remember. We’re honored to get the opportunity to both adopt and carry a pregnancy at the same time. It is our answer to that calling we’ve felt and EA is an unexpected avenue God would allow us to use to begin our family. So, we began seeking a donor family in September of 2024.

WHAT IS EMBYRO ADOPTION (EA)?
If you are not familiar with embryo adoption, it is a unique process that allows us to adopt embryos that were created through in vitro fertilization (IVF) but were not used by the biological parents. These embryos are frozen and waiting for their opportunity to be implanted into a womb and become the child they were meant to be.

Through an adoption process, we are entrusted with these embryos, and one or more are transferred into Kawehi’s womb, giving them the opportunity to grow, be born, and become part of our family. It’s similar to traditional adoption in that it involves matching with donors/a family, paperwork, and a lifetime commitment to providing love and care—but it also gives us the opportunity to carry and bond with the child through a pregnancy.

We see this as a way to honor the value of life. These embryos were created with the intention of becoming fully developed children, and to us, they already are life—tiny souls with the potential to grow, thrive, and make an impact on the world. We believe every life is precious, and being able to offer a home and a future to these children feels like an incredible privilege.

GOD’S PLAN
Adoption is something we’re so excited about because it gives us a deeper understanding and gratitude for how God has adopted us into His family. Embryo adoption feels like such a beautiful picture of that. Just as God chose to love and redeem us when we couldn’t do anything for ourselves, we get the chance to show that same kind of love to these tiny lives. It’s a humbling and deeply meaningful way for us to reflect God’s love and live out our faith. Ephesians 1:5-7a says, "God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son. He is so rich in kindness and in grace…"

PARTNERSHIP
Our most pressing ask is that you would partner with us in prayer. Pray for this process medically, emotionally, and physically. Pray for both of our hearts and that we would lean and depend so heavily on the Lord. That we would find trust and hope in Him alone. Pray for the hearts of the donating family as they too are likely experiencing a lot of emotions in their selfless decision to put their embryos up for adoption. Pray for encouragement and hope to abound all the more as we pursue the Lord's plans for us. And ultimately that God’s hand, favor, and will be in and over it all.

Our second ask is that you would consider partnering with us financially. Embryo adoption costs have a wide range of possibilities depending on clinics, locations, and several other factors. We need selfless and generous partnership in making our adoption happen! We are looking to raise $12,000 to cover the costs associated with each part of the adoption process (this goal does not cover everything or include future storage costs for our embryos who have yet to be carried).

Asking for financial support has been very difficult and very humbling. It’s vulnerable to let all the people in. However, we’ve been reminded that this journey isn’t just about us—it’s about the lives we’re called to love and care for, and the community of people who can come alongside us in that mission. Your support, whether through prayer, encouragement, or giving, means more than words can express and helps make this opportunity possible to us. It truly takes a village.

Right now, we have matched with a family and are currently in the “legal” step of this process.

Please feel free to reach out to either of us if you have questions or curiosity about our journey, we are happy to answer any questions and appreciate your support for us! We love you all, and we can’t wait to see how the Lord uses this, too.

Love,
Jordan & Kawehi Sheehy
