ROUND #1 CANCER. ROUND #2 HEART FAILURE.
Jordan Jarvis (my daughter) has spent the last 14 months battling a rare form of Ewing Sarcoma – a cancer normally found in the bones of younger kids. Her cancer was found in the wall of her intestine, and she's nearly 29, so her having this type of cancer was completely unexpected by everyone...including doctors.
Since July 2024, Jordan has endured an aggressive and harsh schedule of chemo that would force her through 10+ ER trips/ hospitalizations (most 6+ days long), 18 blood infusions when her "numbers tanked", fevers, fatigue, nausea, mouth sores, headaches, dizziness and nose bleeds (including one that lasted 14 hours - yikes!) In September, she had to take a leave from work - and THAT was probably the hardest thing for her to go through. Finally, on March 28, 2025, our girl got to ring that bell signaling she had finally completed chemo. We thought "Wahoo, it's over now!" We were wrong.
On May 11, 2025, Jordan's Apple watch began sending her alerts that she had an unusually high resting heart rate. The next day, she went to the ER "just in case it was something"...and it DEFINITELY was. Jordan was in heart failure – a result of the chemo. She was admitted to the ICU (in Akron) and then taken by helicopter to the Cleveland Clinic Main campus 2 days later where she still remains in ICU. At this point, her amazing team of doctors are determining if her heart is so damaged that she'll require an LVAD (a heart pump device with external batteries she must carry and change out daily)...or if they believe she can strengthen her heart with a regimen of oral meds, cardio rehab, and diet. She is young and has no other known organ damage, so that works in her favor. Either way, we are hopeful that in the coming months, Jordan will be able to return to a normal life again.
Jordan & Kyle (her husband) are doing their best to balance things financially, but decreased income, medical bills, and missed work are a huge challenge. Jordan has applied for leave from work again, but it may not be approved, so her entire income is in complete flux at this point. As you can imagine, this is very stressful for them, especially since Kyle is already balancing two jobs while also enrolled in college!
If you know Jordan, you've been blessed by her bubbly, positive, outgoing spirit and witnessed just how much she cares for others. Right now, you can show Jordan (& Kyle) how much you care about them in return. Please consider donating and sharing this link widely. All money will be used to help cover expenses during Jordan's heart failure treatment. Ultimately, being able to worry less about their finances will allow Jordan & Kyle to focus more on what is important - getting her strong and healthy again. We know that God is in total control and firmly believe something good is meant to come from all of this. Stay positive friends, and thank you for your support.
