We are heartbroken to share the passing of Jonathan “Jonnie” Ryan Wachtel, who died on December 28, 2025, at the age of 41. Jonnie was a devoted husband to Lesley and a proud, loving dad to Madison, Jameson, Colson, and Isla. To everyone who knew him, Jonnie was kindness in motion: sincere, helpful, welcoming, and the kind of person who made you feel taken care of. He built a life in Columbia, Missouri, and spent nearly 14 years at Veterans United Home Loans, where he was known for his steady heart, compassion, and infectious smile.

Jonnie’s greatest joy was his family. Whether he was cooking for others, tending a garden, hunting or fishing, or simply being present with the people he loved, he lived in a way that made others feel safe and seen. His sudden passing has left a tremendous void in the lives of his loved ones and the community he touched.

This GoFundMe is being created to support Lesley and the kids as they navigate the unexpected financial weight of losing Jonnie.
