Support for Joni’s Recovery After Her Stroke

Hello everyone and thank you for taking the time to read our story.

As a family we are hoping to raise funds for our mother, Joan Blazini Greene, lovingly known as “Joni.”

Until October of 2024, at 88 years old, mom was driving, working, and living on her own in her apartment—full of life, routines, and pride in doing everything herself.

Everything changed the day she suffered a stroke. She was in the hospital for 3 weeks with a feeding tube, suffering from pneumonia. Next, she went to an acute rehab for 21 days where she regained the strength to swallow and eat food, but her left side was still not functioning.

Since then, Joni’s life has been completely turned upside down. The stroke has affected her mobility, independence, and cognitive abilities. She is now dependent on 24/7 care; she can’t walk and suffers from dementia brought on by the stroke, requiring assistance with everyday tasks that she once handled effortlessly. We are grateful for the progress she’s made, but the emotional and financial toll has been overwhelming.

We are seeking help to cover the growing costs associated with her recovery, including:

• Rehabilitation therapies

• Outstanding medical bills

• Mobility devices and accessibility needs

• 24/7 caretaker (live-in)

• Basic living expenses

Mom has was born in Hoboken, graduated Demarest HS in 1954, a proud Majorette, moved to Secaucus in 1973.

Joni's independence meant so much, to see her decline so quickly has been so difficult, and we are committed to giving her the best care and quality of life. Any contribution—no matter the amount—will directly support her recovery and help lighten the burden she’s facing.
