Support Joni's Battle Against Cancer

Hello, my name is Anna. I’m fundraising for my Mom, Joni. Currently she has been diagnosed with high grade serous ovarian cancer - stage 3C. Previous to this she was diagnosed with CCRC which is clear cell renal carcinoma. Previous to that, diagnosed with Waldenstoms - Macroglobulinemia.

December 2014 my mom was diagnosed with Waldenstoms. A blood cancer. She received infusions of rituxan, which was immune therapy for this cancer and today is in remission. She continues every 6 months with blood labs, checking levels of the cancer. She continues to actively see an oncologist for Waldenstroms.

June 2023, Mom was diagnosed with Paraneoplastic Syndrome. This attacks the cerebellum (cerebellar ataxia) Mom is unable to walk without assistance.

September 2023 my mom was diagnosed with kidney cancer. They were able to remove the cancer (partial nephrectomy) and did not need chemo during this time. Stage 1.

May 2024 my mom was diagnosed with Stage 3C High Grade serous ovarian cancer. Thursday May 30 was surgery day. Mom was inoperable, oncologist said “too much cancer” Cancer has spread to diaphragm and omentum. Chemotherapy began June 5th, taxol/carbo is being used. Will add third agent at some point. With this being said, this type of cancer will not ever be “beat” she could go into remission. Always being monitored.

As my Mom does have medical insurance through Medicare her policy pays 80% of infusions. This is beginning to take a financial toll. Her husband drives into Fort Worth and or Dallas medical facilities right now at least once a week. Doctors have added numerous medications to what she already takes daily. Medicare does not cover 100% on medications. Each scan or scope (PET scan, CT scan, colonoscopy) including the medi port that is upcoming is $275 each time for each scan, scope and or procedure out of pocket.

This is not easy to ask for help. Anything will help Mom and her husband John along this road. As health stress is already so incredibly much. Adding financial stress makes everything heavy. I appreciate you taking your time to read a bit into my Moms medical story. Please keep her in your prayers as this journey continues.
