Jonathan has always been the heart of our family—an active, happy person who loves hiking with our pitbull, Pecas, and riding his motorcycle through the mountains. He’s the kind of person who fills our home with music and laughter. But everything changed when he was in a terrible motorcycle accident. Jonathan shattered his pelvis, broke both legs and an arm, suffered internal bleeding, and endured a concussion. He’s facing a long, difficult recovery and will need to learn how to walk again.
We applied for state insurance as soon as he was admitted to the hospital, but we’ve been told it will be months before he’s approved. Jonathan was supposed to go to an inpatient rehab facility, but without insurance, he has to come home. He was our family’s breadwinner, and I’m a stay-at-home mom. Now, we have no income and are struggling to cover the costs of medical equipment, home care, and physical therapy.
On top of all this, I’m due to have our second daughter in early January. Jonathan will be bed- and wheelchair-bound until at least the end of December, so I’ll be caring for him, our toddler, and a newborn all at once. We have most of what our baby will need, but there are still a few essentials we can’t afford. We’re reaching out for help to get Jonathan the care he needs and to keep our family afloat during this overwhelming time. Any support will make a real difference as we work toward Jonathan’s recovery and prepare for our growing family.
