Jonathan Matthew Rickard is my brother, and anyone who knows him will tell you he’s a go-getter who loves working with his hands. He’s the kind of person who can fix just about anything, always tinkering on vehicles and helping out friends and family. On Thursday, November 13th, Jonathan was in a devastating motorcycle accident when a truck allegedly failed to yield to oncoming traffic, causing him to collide with the back end of the vehicle. The impact left him with an orbital fracture, a broken jaw in multiple places, several fractured vertebrae in his neck, broken radius and ulna bones in both arms, a deep cut on his leg that required staples, and significant road rash on his face and upper chest. He’s already undergone surgery on his jaw, and his mouth is currently wired shut. Today, he underwent a long surgery on his arms that took about four hours. He’s in a tremendous amount of pain, and while he isn’t very responsive right now, we are incredibly grateful he’s still with us and fighting hard. The staff at Huntsville Hospital have been phenomenal, showing genuine care and answering every question during this difficult time. Jonathan does not have medical insurance, and his recovery will be long—just healing his arms could take 3-6 months, all while managing his other injuries. The financial burden is overwhelming, and we want to make sure Jonathan can focus on healing without the added stress of mounting bills. The funds raised will go directly toward his medical bills, rehabilitation, and daily living expenses while he recovers. Any support you can offer will help ease the burden on him and our family as we navigate this journey. If you’re unable to donate, please share his story to help us reach more people. Thank you for caring and for anything you can give.
