Jonathan’s Support Against Organ Failure

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Alanna and I’m fundraising for my cousin, Jonathan and his family. Jonathan is a loving, devoted husband and father of a 2 year old girl. If you met him, you’d say he’s the happiest and most humble human being. He’s the light and energy that lifts people out of their darkness and the world needs more people like him.

On April 30th at 3 a.m., Jonathan was brought to the ER at Tennova in Clarksville, TN after his wife suspected a seizure. Around 6 a.m. he was admitted into the ICU. He was diagnosed with Beta Thalassemia Major at the age of 2. After reviewing his hemoglobin levels, he was given 4 units of blood and other liquids through his IVs. He kept stating he couldn’t breathe and had shortness of breath. After reviewing, doctors saw he had low oxygen levels and was put on a high-flow oxygen machine, but he still felt like he could not breathe, so he was then put on a bipap machine. He still felt like he could not breathe and had very high anxiety. The doctors then ordered an x-ray and saw that he had too much liquids inside of him with low urination output. After an x-ray, doctors realized he was going into kidney failure.

On May 1st around 2 a.m., he was life flighted to Nashville, TN in critical condition. He was then told he had Covid and streptococcus infections resulting in a septic shock, which is organ damage in response to infection that leads to dangerously low blood pressure.

He is currently battling Multi System Organ failure. He is in an induced coma and on a ventilator. He is currently on dialysis to help the function of his kidneys as well as filter out the acidity from his blood. We are currently on hour 48. The doctor said these next 24-72 hours is crucial in his recovery. They are trying to get his organs and body to be able to support himself so that he’s able to be taken off the ventilator and other support machines.

While he is in his state of condition, the challenges Jon and his family will face is a long road to recovery if he does get better. I started a gofundme in hopes of alleviating some financial burden of medical costs, rent and food. Any gift donation is immensely appreciated. Thank you!
