Support Jonathan’s Family During Cancer Battle

My name is Shanda Moorman, and I am the CEO of Family on the Mend, LLC, a child-placing agency serving children in foster care. I have known Jonathan and his family for over ten years, and they are a family whose lives have been defined by love, sacrifice, and service to vulnerable children.

Jonathan and his wife, Roxanne, have opened their home to many children through adoption and kinship care, welcoming four children from foster care, an adult son who aged out of the system, and raising four biological children. They have consistently stepped in for relatives and siblings in foster care, providing safety, stability, and unconditional love. Their middle school son recently said to me, “Thank you for finding me the best family ever. My dad is the best.” That simple statement speaks volumes about the kind of father Jonathan is.

After recently celebrating the adoption of their youngest child, the family was suddenly faced with heartbreaking news. Earlier this year, Jonathan was diagnosed with bone cancer and is now undergoing aggressive chemotherapy several days a week, along with frequent medical appointments that require long travel. The physical and emotional toll has been overwhelming. As the sole provider for his family, Jonathan’s ability to work has been drastically reduced, placing the family under extreme financial strain. His greatest hope is to focus on healing so he can be present and strong for their middle school son and the rest of their family.

This family urgently needs support. Donations will help cover basic living expenses and relieve the crushing financial pressure, allowing Jonathan to focus on his treatment, his recovery, and caring for his family. Even while battling cancer, Jonathan continues to show up for his children in every way he can—but he cannot do this alone.

If you are able to help in any way, or even share this family’s story, it would be a powerful act of compassion. Jonathan’s hope, once healed, is to again open his home to a child in foster care and continue the work of loving children who need a family.

Thank you for standing with this family during their time of greatest need.
