Support Jonathan's Battle Against Brain Tumor

We are reaching out for assistance to help cover Jonathan’s medical expenses. As someone who considers himself healthy, this came by surprise.

Jonathan is a healthy individual with no previous health issues. Earlier this year, he moved to the Twin Cities and started his new job. On November 5, 2024, while at work, he unexpectedly experienced a seizure and collapsed. He was taken to the hospital, where CT and MRI scans were conducted. While he was there, he ended up having another seizure just a few hours after the first one. The MRI results showed a grade 3 brain tumor in his left frontal lobe, which impacts the parts of the brain that control speech and movement. It seems this tumor had probably been growing for about ten years and was causing his seizures.

He was placed under observation and scheduled for surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible. On Wednesday, November 13, he underwent a five-hour brain surgery, during which the neurosurgeon successfully removed 99% of the tumor, leaving a small portion due to its proximity to the movement area of the brain. Upon waking, it was expected Jonathan would not be able to move his right side body, and his speech would be delayed. He’s now placed in rehabilitation with therapy everyday to strengthen his right side and improve his speech.

The biopsy results for the tumor identified it as "oligodendroglioma." While it had been a slow-growing tumor over a span of 10 years at grade 2, the size detected indicates it is now classified as grade 3.

This is just the beginning of his journey. He will face six weeks of radiation, followed by an additional six weeks of chemotherapy, which means he will be visiting the hospital five days a week. Despite these difficulties, he is optimistic to overcome radiation and chemotherapy.
