My name is Jonathan McFadden. I am a US Army Veteran. On March 24, 2025, I was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer. I had no symptoms and was feeling great. In November 2024, I was checking my horoscope on Alexa, and it told me to get my health in order, don't wait. I didn't give it much thought; I was feeling amazing. So the next day, it said something along the same lines. I then said I was going to cancel Amazon because they don't even update their stuff. A couple of days passed, and I checked my horoscope again. This time it was more urgent about my health. I said, let me go see what's going on. The next day, I went to the VA outpatient clinic and asked for blood work. Three days later, I was told I had elevated PSA levels and needed to come in immediately for more tests. After more blood work and a biopsy, my world was turned completely upside down. The prognosis was not good, to say the least. With my PSA levels, it was almost certain it had spread beyond the prostate, which means not many options or much time. With all this going on, I still had faith. On April 24th, I had to get a full-body scan to see if the cancer had spread. A couple of days later, I was informed that it hadn't spread outside the prostate. The greatest news I ever heard in my life. My urologist at Johns Hopkins went over my options. I decided to go with the radical prostatectomy with robotic assistance. On May 20th, 2025, I had my surgery, and they successfully removed my prostate and were able to save over 60% of my nerves. And now I'm on the road to recovery. My postop appointment is June 23, 2025. I hope this is the day I'm told I'm cancer-free. Never give up the fight.
