I never imagined I would have to write something like this about my child.
Our son is fighting chronic kidney disease, and every single day is a battle he didn’t choose—but faces with more courage than I ever thought possible. As his parent, it’s heartbreaking to watch. There are moments where all I want is to take this burden from him, to trade places, to give him the carefree childhood he deserves.
Instead, our days are filled with medications, appointments, and constant worry.
His care is not just complex—it’s relentless. He has a rare genetic condition called a TRIM8 mutation, which has caused FSGS (focal segmental glomerulosclerosis) and will eventually progress to end-stage renal disease. This condition also brings developmental delays and epilepsy, adding even more challenges to the life he’s navigating so bravely. He will need a kidney transplant and lifelong medications to survive.
Every week, he undergoes Hizentra infusions that cost thousands of dollars a month just to keep his immune system supported. He needs Retacrit injections to help his body make red blood cells, and Calcitriol to protect what kidney function he has left. These aren’t optional treatments—they are what keep him going.
Beyond the medications, there are endless trips to specialists, hospital visits, and long days where his needs come before everything else. Because of the level of care he requires, we’ve had to sacrifice work and income just to be there for him the way he needs.
We would do it all again without hesitation—he is our world. But the financial weight of this journey is becoming more than we can carry alone.
Asking for help is not easy. But right now, we need it.
If you’re able to donate, share our story, or keep our son in your thoughts and prayers, it would mean everything to us. Your support helps us continue his care, get him to the appointments he needs, and focus on giving him comfort, love, and hope through all of this.
Thank you for seeing him. Thank you for caring. And thank you for standing beside our family during the hardest chapter of our lives.
