Jonah is a talented young musician on the road to Interlochen Arts Academy! He got in, and now he needs your help to make this life-changing opportunity a reality.
Jonah picked up his first guitar in 2016, when he was eight years old, and spent four years studying classical technique before delving into contemporary musical styles. He has become an accomplished electric guitarist who enjoys a variety of genres including rock, blues, funk, reggae, folk, and country. More recently, Jonah has added banjo and mandolin to his repertoire. To hear Jonah play, please follow these links:

Jonah’s path to Interlochen Arts Academy began after attending Interlochen Arts Camp last summer. His exceptional camp experience inspired him to audition for the Academy. After being surrounded by students from across the country and around the world who were equally passionate about music and the arts, along with faculty and guest artists who had accomplished careers in the music industry, Jonah realized that Interlochen is where he wants to complete his high school studies. He hopes that this opportunity will help make his dream of working as a touring and/or session musician a reality. When asked "Why Interlochen?" Jonah will tell you that that he was amazed by how much he learned in such a short period of time.
In 1962, Interlochen Arts Academy became the nation’s first independent boarding school for the arts. The Academy combines rigorous college-preparatory academics with an immersive artistic education. Approximately 550 students from around the world convene at Interlochen Arts Academy to expand their capacity in music, theatre, dance, creative writing, visual arts, interdisciplinary arts, and film. Through daily classes and frequent performance opportunities, Interlochen students explore the full breadth of the arts, pursue creative breakthroughs, and forge lifelong cross-cultural friendships.
There is no denying that Interlochen has a long history of opening doors for young artists. Alumni of Interlochen Arts Camp and Interlochen Arts Academy have gone on to be successful in the arts and other professional fields. Notable alumni include Chappell Roan, Norah Jones, Josh Groban, Jewel, Rufus Wainwright, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Terry Crews, Ana Gasteyer, Vince Gilligan, Peter Erskine, and Felicity Huffman. Interlochen has produced 51 Presidential Scholars-more than any other high school in the country. Alumni have been awarded 152 Grammy Awards, 34 Tony Awards, 27 Emmy Awards, 4 Academy Awards, and 4 Pulitzer Prizes. 13% of the musicians in the nation’s major orchestras are Interlochen Alumni. It is an extraordinary place where Jonah will have the opportunity to unlock his potential while surrounded by a global community of like-minded artists.
Jonah and his family are very grateful for this opportunity, but attending this world-renowned institution comes at a hefty price. Tuition for boarding students is $78,725 and even after receiving an extremely generous combination of merit and need-based scholarships along with significant modifications to the family budget, Jonah's family needs $7,600 to close the gap. We are hopeful that family, friends, community members, and music lovers will support Jonah's journey to Interlochen by making a donation. Every dollar helps, and there is no donation too small! To quote country artist Luke Bryan, "it's pretty cool to see how far music can take you," and we can't wait to see how far Jonah will go.
