Hello,

My brother, Jon Malanoski, was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in July 2023. Jon graduated from Sayre Area High School in 1983 and Clarion University in the Fall of 1987. During his time at Clarion, he was member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. After graduating from college, Jon enlisted in the US Air Force. He served for 4 years. He initially served with the USAF in Europe Command at RAF Upper Heyford in England. He finished his enlistment with the Strategic Air Command at Offutt AFB in Nebraska.

His condition started with severe pain in March 2023. He saw his family doctor at that time. Unfortunately, the doctor treated him for muscle spasms. Despite Jon's multiple visits and escalating pain, this doctor referred him to physical therapy.

After 4 months of struggle, Jon experienced 2 falls which prompted an MRI. The results showed a tumor in his upper spine. By this time, the tumor had grown large enough to fracture one of his vertebrae.

Jon spent July and August 2023 in the hospital and rehabilitation center enduring invasive testing, 2 major abdominal surgeries and 10 radiation treatments. He developed blood clots in his legs. He was finally discharged to his home with an open abdominal wound. He needed daily wound care and was responsible for the cost of the medical supplies needed.

In September 2023, Jon began outpatient, weekly chemotherapy. His FMLA had run out which required him to return to work. He continued to work while receiving chemo through February 2024.

He was scheduled to begin the process of a stem cell transplant in March 2024. This was delayed because he became sick with COVID. The transplant was further delayed due to the finding of an abdominal tumor which eventually turned out to be benign. We are hopeful he will be able to begin the transplant process in June 2024.

Jon and his family have been struggling for nearly 18 months. Both Jon and his wife, Tammy, have remained working throughout this time. However, they've missed a lot of days due to his care and their schedules have been significantly reduced.

At this time, they are unable to cover their monthly expenses. We are humbly asking for donations to help them. We hope to raise enough to cover 1 year of expenses. Please consider donating. Any amount helps.

On behalf of Jon and his family, I want to express my profound gratitude for your generosity. This has been a very difficult time for all.
