Support Jon Carpenter's Medical Recovery

Hello,

My name is Jon Carpenter. I’m 33 and I’m an active IBEW 1249 member, an avid outdoorsman, and a devoted father/husband to a wife and 4 kids.

Recently on 4/19/25, rather than celebrate my 33rrd birthday, i went into the emergency room at 4a.m. due to severe stomach pain for 2.5 days. I was admitted for a ruptured appendix. I underwent surgery and had it removed, but I was septic. For a couple days I battled pain, fevers, sickness. On the 3rd and 4th days I didn’t feel to bad and was up walking. But started to feel down again. So I had another catscan. That night I knew something wasn’t right and started to get severe pain in my abdomen down by where my appendix was. Dry heaving all night and fevers again, come the next day and I just felt awful and knew something was right.

After the results of the catscan, they found that my colon had perforated in the enflamed tissue that was left and was leaking into my abdomen once again. So, I had to have emergency major surgery to repair the damage. This resulted in them removing part of of small and large intestines and reattaching them and 27 staples in my stomach. 3 days I had a tube to my stomach to relieve pressure, and 2 different abdominal drains. Its been a slow road after that surgery but I have slowly been recovering. Lost almost 30lbs in the hospital and after 12 days I was finally able to stabilize enough to make it home to my family. I can’t lift anything or do really anything for 8 weeks to ensure I heal and visit the doctors.

I honestly hate to do this, as I’ve never been one to ask for help ever, but after all the medical expenses I’m going to have to deal with along with not working, any bit of help to just cover some basics monthly expenses for my family would be greatly appreciated.
