Support John's Wheelchair Accessible Minivan Fund

Hello, friends and supporters,

I'm reaching out to you today on behalf of my brother John Hubbard, a beloved member of our community, who needs our help. John has been an active truck driver for over 15 years, tirelessly moving goods and making connections across the country. However, life took an unexpected turn for him in December 2022.

John started experiencing great difficulty walking. At first, his doctor diagnosed him with drop foot, but when his condition didn't improve, he was referred to a neurologist. On March 23, 2023, John received the devastating diagnosis of ALS. ALS, or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, is a progressive fatal neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord, leading to loss of muscle control, and paralysis.

As a result of ALS, John has lost the ability to walk and stand up on his own. His upper body strength has also weakened significantly, and he now relies on a specialized wheelchair for mobility. This wheelchair, customized to accommodate his needs, weighs a substantial 400 pounds.

However, mobility is just one aspect of John's challenge. To transport him, we urgently need a wheelchair accessible minivan. The cost of a new minivan is exorbitant, with prices soaring over $80,000.

Fundraising Goal:

Our family is on a mission to raise $30,000 to purchase a used wheelchair accessible minivan for John. This minivan will not only provide him with the means to attend his medical appointments, but also grant him the freedom to engage with his community, and enjoy the outdoors once more.
