Here is the story. My name is John I’m scheduled for a cervical laminectomy with spinal fusion on December 2nd at 8 AM to treat severe spinal stenosis and myelopathy. Although this condition has likely been developing over many years, I was unaware of it until late August. At that time, I went to the emergency room due to sudden numbness and tingling in my left arm, and I was deeply concerned it might be a stroke or a heart attack.
After the initial diagnosis suggested a pinched nerve, I underwent physical therapy, but symptoms worsened. An MRI in September and a follow-up in October revealed severe spinal stenosis and herniated discs compressing my spinal cord, leading to the decision for surgery.
As we prepare for this surgery, I’m facing a significant financial shortfall. My disability income won’t fully cover our monthly expenses, leaving us about $1,500 short each month. This shortfall could last anywhere from three months to two years, depending on my recovery.
This holiday season, our family is facing a more challenging Christmas. We’re deeply grateful for the support of my partner, Aleida, and our children—Angelina, John, and Nicklas. Angelina, especially, has been incredibly determined to help, and while I’m so thankful for her support, it also weighs heavily on my heart that she has to contribute in this way.
In addition, I’m a huge Detroit Lions fan, and so is my family. My colleagues call me "Motown" because I’m often seen wearing Lions gear to work. It’s a big part of who we are and brings us joy, even in tough times.
The funds we’re hoping to raise will go directly toward covering essential bills and keeping our family stable during this recovery period. We’re not seeking anything beyond what’s necessary, and your kindness will make an immense difference for us.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story. Your support, in any form, means the world to us.
With gratitude,
John
