Support John on his Journey
This is John and Teresa Rosenthal, making our humble plea. We are reaching out and asking for your support and contributions as John continues to work on recovering from West Nile Virus encephalitis.
John had a kidney transplant May 7, 2024. All has gone very well with the transplant, and his new kidney continues to do well through this new journey.
Last September, a li’l mosquito changed our lives, and what is to come is still unknown. On September 21, 2025 we went to the ER at the University of Minnesota as John had a fever. That fever lasted 9 days and it took 2 weeks for them to come up with the West Nile Virus diagnosis. John spent 4 weeks at the U of M, followed by just over 6 months at Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul. During that time, he was on a ventilator for 10 days, had a tracheostomy, and was on a feeding tube. The encephalitis has affected his motor nerves. Our hope, our prayer – with the help of therapies, he will be able to once again feed himself, stand, do simple things.
Insurance covered our time at the U of M and Bethesda (and most of John’s stay at River Falls Hospital – for specialized wound care). Now John is at a long-term care facility, and we are now looking at private pay.
Thus, the funds raised will go toward paying for the long-term care facility and other medical / therapy expenses.
We truly appreciate your prayers, love, and support.
Offering our prayers of thanks,
John and Teresa Rosenthal
