Support John's Recovery from Severe Burns
Donation protected
On June 5, 2024, my husband, John, experienced a terrible accident while frying fish. He tripped and fell onto the grease fryer, breaking the table it was on and causing the hot grease to splatter all over him. This left him with painful second and third-degree burns covering 18% of his body. Despite the severity of his injuries, John initially refused treatment. However, the next day he was taken to the ER and quickly transferred to Shands Burn Unit in Gainesville, Florida. So far, he has undergone four surgeries and will need at least one more. The burn on his leg is particularly severe and hasn't shown signs of healing yet. The medical team is trying various treatments to jumpstart the healing process.
Complicating John's recovery is his diagnosis of Guillain-Barré syndrome from July 2022. He has been on steroids for two years to manage this condition, but unfortunately, these steroids are slowing the healing of his burns. In response, the doctors have discontinued the steroids and are exploring alternative treatments for Guillain-Barré syndrome to aid in the healing of his burn wounds.
All donations will go towards covering medical and other expenses as John continues his long journey to recovery.
