My name is Satesha Kirkland. We just found out this afternoon that my brother John overdosed a week ago in Florence, SC. My youngest brother took him back to his halfway house after we got back from New York, burying our grandmother. John has struggled with addiction for years, but he was honestly doing so well. He was starting to learn how to walk away from the people or activities that caused him to relapse. Our grandmother raised John and me for a good bit of our lives. John was broken by our grandmother's passing, and I genuinely believe that once he got back to the halfway house, he just felt lost and alone. This caused him to turn to the one thing that could make his pain go away. I am making this page because this was very unexpected, and my brother did not have any life insurance to cover the cost of any services. We are from New York, so our plans are to have our brother cremated and take him home to be buried with family. Anything that anyone can donate is greatly appreciated by our family.
