From Louisiana to Ohio - Support John's Journey to Recovery
Donation protected
A few weeks ago, my brother John was found lying outside, completely alone and unable to move his arms or legs...he had been there for two full days before anyone found him. He was rushed to a hospital in Alabama where doctors discovered severe spinal cord damage caused by several compressed discs/degeneration in his back. He underwent two major surgeries — an ACDF and a laminectomy — and spent roughly two weeks in inpatient care.
Despite still being unable to walk, John was discharged back to the community with no health insurance, no stable home, and nothing to his name but the clothes on his back. He is currently with my baby brother in Louisiana going to stay with family there, but he has no access to the therapy, equipment, or the skilled nursing care that he urgently needs.
We are doing everything we can to bring him to Youngstown, Ohio, where I work at a skilled nursing facility. We have secured a safe room for him in our building, where he will at least be with family and begin receiving the therapy and support he needs. I will be helping him apply for Medicaid so that he can finally begin the long road to recovery in a caring, safe, and stable environment.
But we can’t do it without help.
Because of his condition, John needs to be medically transported by gurney, and this kind of transport is incredibly expensive — well beyond what any of us can afford. This is the only safe way to get him here.
We are asking for donations — whatever you can give — to help us cover the cost of getting him to Ohio. Every single dollar will go directly toward his medical transport and a second chance at life and with medical transportation, we can get him here safely.
Please, if you’re able, donate and help us bring John to Youngstown. Even if you can’t give, sharing this story helps more than you know.
Time is critical. We’re trying to make this happen as soon as possible, and your support means everything to us.
