Support John's Fight: ICU Recovery Aid

Hi everyone, I'm writing today on behalf of the Crump family, Robyn, John, and Johnny. John recently fell at work on February 14th and was subsequently diagnosed with a back fracture at L3. He was informed at that time that rest was required for healing. Unfortunately, he began to have severe headaches. He went to Urgent Care several times, but nothing helped. He was eventually sent to Corwell Health (Beaumont) in Troy on March 2nd. He went to that hospital (versus a local one) because it's where his orthopedic surgeon was located. The primary concern at that time was that he'd hit his head when he had the fall.

A CT scan showed a spot on his brain but couldn't define exactly what it was. A subsequent CT with contrast and an MRI were done later, but neither could produce a diagnosis. Unfortunately, John developed a staph infection (sepsis) which would require 6-8 weeks of IV antibiotics. Robyn would be taught how to give the IV antibiotics at home when he was well enough to be discharged.

Subsequent testing revealed nodules and enlarged lymph nodes in his liver, chest, and underarms. Despite the strong antibiotics, his temperature spiked and the situation quickly became critical. He became less alert and was no longer able to follow directions or communicate due to either the mass in his brain or infection of the brain. He's had two spinal taps (lumbar punctures) without any definitive diagnosis.

Once again, he went for another MRI, this time under anesthesia, and had to be placed on a ventilator afterwards due to hyperventilation. He was sent to ICU at this time, and while there was diagnosed with pneumonia. Today, after two weeks, John remains in the ICU on a ventilator. He is unresponsive and cannot follow commands. He remains without a diagnosis of the spot on the brain.

John is an all-around great guy who is loved and respected by so many in the Millington community. His coworker stated, "It's crazy how many people the big guy touched in such a positive way. Always helping everyone every day all day long with directions or job site information or he'll just stop what he's doing to help replace a mud flap. Everyone really respects him a lot!"

As you can imagine, Robyn and Johnny are devastated, and they commute daily to Troy to be by John's side while waiting for answers and praying for a miracle. We are asking that if you're able to, please donate to help offset travel expenses, loss of income, and mounting medical bills. If you're not able, please consider sharing this post to get the word out. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and considering donating to such a deserving family in their time of need.
