Help John Fight for Freedom and Justice

We are organizing this fundraiser to support our friend John, who is going through an extremely difficult time in his immigration journey here in the United States.

John arrived in the country on a tourist visa, seeking safety and a new chance at life. Shortly after, he applied for asylum, fleeing unsafe conditions and an unfair, flawed legal process in Brazil. Since then, he has been following every step required by the legal system.

Last month, he attended his mandatory biometrics appointment with USCIS. The next step was his asylum interview, which was already scheduled for this month. However, when he arrived at the interview location, he wasn’t even given the chance to speak—instead, he was detained immediately by immigration authorities.

John is now in detention. After consulting with attorneys, we were advised that we can file a request for bond so that he may continue his case in freedom. Unfortunately, the legal costs are very high, and we simply do not have the resources to cover everything on our own.

That’s why we are asking for your help.

All funds raised will be used exclusively to cover:

-Immigration attorney fees

-Legal process costs

Estamos organizando esta vaquinha para ajudar nosso amigo John, que está passando por um momento extremamente difícil em sua jornada imigratória nos Estados Unidos.

O John chegou ao país com visto de turista, buscando segurança e uma nova chance de vida. Pouco tempo depois, entrou com um pedido de asilo, fugindo de condições inadequadas e de um processo judicial injusto e cheio de falhas no Brasil. Desde então, ele vem cumprindo todas as etapas exigidas pelo processo legal.

No mês passado, ele compareceu à USCIS para realizar a biometria, uma etapa obrigatória. A próxima fase seria a entrevista de asilo, já agendada para este mês. Porém, ao chegar ao local da entrevista, ele não foi sequer ouvido – em vez disso, foi detido imediatamente pelas autoridades de imigração.

Atualmente, John está preso. Após consultarmos advogados, nos foi informado que é possível entrar com um pedido de fiança para que ele possa responder ao processo em liberdade. No entanto, os custos legais são muito altos, e infelizmente não temos os recursos para cobrir tudo sozinhos.

Por isso, estamos pedindo a sua ajuda.

O valor arrecadado será usado exclusivamente para:

-Custos legais do processo
