For those of you who don’t know, this is my friend John. I am creating a GoFundMe for John because he and his community need support right now. John has always been “A LOT”… A lot of heart, a lot of personality, a lot sass, a lot of love, and he could be a lot of a pain in your arse. He knows it, and definitely even leaned into it simply to disrupt the human facade. A therapist, psychedelic advocate, goddess loving, button pushing love bug, but the most incredible thing about John is that he is honest and loyal. (Stubborn as all hell) He spent his life giving and searching for love. That’s what he is made of, Love, even if it came out awkward at times.
He personally annoyed me to no end, but he advocated for my dreams at every step. I knew he always loved me and never gave up on our friendship. He never questioned that I loved him as well, even when I took space for long periods. I simply adore him. Many do.
Well…. John, at 73 years old has been dealt a tough hand and he is struggling to keep the stability of his home and situation in tact. Along with having a pacemaker put in last January, which he developed an infection from that landed him in the hospital for 2 weeks, he has been diagnosed with “Mixed Dementia”, a blend of Alzheimer’s and Vascular Dementia. Two of this closest and long time friends, Liscia DiGiacomo and Chris Sia have been by his side these past couple of years helping him navigate through this challenging new reality. A year ago they found him a beautiful home in LaMesa and with a crew of friends got his stuff out of storage and moved him in! Liscia and Chris have managed to create a solid care team forJohn mostly made up of dear friends. John has been and needs to continue paying around $5-6000/month just for care. These expenses on top of rent and bills has drained John’s savings and they find themselves at a precarious new juncture that feels very uncertain and scary. The dream is to be able to keep john in this home but they are also prepping for other scenarios that may have to happen. Liscia is working hard to manifest the miracle and create the on going stability needed to maintain this current living situation for John. These next couple of months are crucial and all possible resources are being explored!
