Support Johnny's Urgent Heart Surgery and Recovery
$4,195 raised of
Ariel is asking for support for her husband, Johnny Mays, as he faces one of the hardest battles of his life. Since 2022, Johnny has been bravely fighting stage 4 congestive heart failure, and along the way he has also developed chronic kidney disease. He is currently at Emory University Hospital, where the family is facing an urgent change in plans. After being on the heart transplant list, they can no longer wait for a transplant as Georgia Medicaid doesn't cover heart transplants, and Johnny now needs emergency LVAD surgery. Johnny loves fishing, working on cars, anything pertaining to outdoors, playing video games and takes pride in owning his own semi-truck, which he can no longer drive to provide for the family. More than anything, Johnny is a loving father of four children who need him deeply: De'Aria, 15, Tristan, 12, Jhourni, 10, and Johnny B Mays III, just 7 months old.
The Mays family lives in Cuthbert, GA, and with the hospital being nearly three hours from home, this medical crisis has placed an overwhelming financial strain on them. After surgery, recovery will require Ariel and Johnny to stay in a recovery house that costs $45 per night for an unknown number of weeks. On top of that, there will be frequent travel back and forth for hospital care, along with the day-to-day needs of supporting their children during this difficult season. How donations will help: support from this fundraiser will go toward the recovery house, travel expenses for hospital visits, and helping the family stay afloat while Johnny focuses on healing. Ariel is asking for any help, prayers, and support during this incredibly hard season. Every donation, no matter the size, will help carry this family through surgery, recovery, and the journey ahead. Thank You!!
