I want to tell y'all a story about a guy that for 50 years seemed invincible, unstoppable, with the biggest heart known for helping anyone with anything. Also known as a bully buster, a vigilant neighborhood protector, a great friend, father, a wild, crazy loving man, a musician, an artist, a wildlife survivalist, the guy you'd want to be with if you were in a zombie apocalypse, a guy you want to be with if you'd want to be able to call to fix, build, drive, ride, fly, play, flip, race, forge, survive anything with.

Until a year ago when he bought a pair of snake boots from a Goodwill store and ended up with a flesh-eating disease that has in one year caused him to spend over 127 days in ICU hospital care, to lose 52 pounds in weight, to lose 7 teeth, all his muscle mass, to not be able to put on a sock or shoes, to not be able to work. He's lost his home, he's $176,000.00 in debt to the hospitals, he lost his dream company, his ability to do anything. All he can do is lay in a bed and try to fight the excruciating pain of watching his skin fall off as fast as it gets to regrow.

Today I want to ask you to help this man that has spent his entire life in the service of others. We need to help him pay his debts off and be able to exist, to have food, power, a place to call home, a way to get back and forth to doctor's appointments.

I took him to Goodwill myself thinking he would go to talk about a lawsuit, but instead, he went in to ask them to create a way to sanitize shoes before putting them on the shelves so that what happened to him would not happen to someone else. He gave them a medicine spray bottle that they could hopefully order and use at all the stores. He never asked if they would help him with funding, he never threatened them with calling the Better Business Bureau or lawsuits, and they got him a chair for him to sit in out front of their store while I retrieved the car. What they did while I was on the phone being a slowpoke was call the cops on him, trying to have him charged with loitering.

OMG, I could've died right there with surprise at the audacity of the managers of Goodwill. I couldn't get him away from there quick enough as I watched tears stream down his face as he hobbled to my car.

If there ever was a case that GoFundMe needs to make a special case, it's this one for my friend Johnny. Please, all that may read this, let's let him know he's loved and appreciated. Let's give him some ease from the worry of the bills and how he will afford the antibiotics this month. Please show Johnny some love because in 32 years of knowing him, I've never met anyone that could love you, love a stranger, love a neighbor, love anyone like him.
