During the month of June, my 29 year old cousin John Delaney was diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer. Since then, he has been out of work, in and out of the hospital for weeks at a time, and going through both chemotherapy and radiation 5 days a week. Due to the large mass in his esophagus, Johnny has not been able to drink any liquids or eat any solid food, and thus had to have a feeding tube inserted. Johnny is a larger than life person who is truly struggling with his fight against cancer, physically, emotionally and financially. Johnny's medical bills are really starting to add up, from his stays in the hospital, to his treatment 5 days a week, to his medications, he just cannot keep up with the bills while he is out of work. Johnny has already had a really rough few months just trying to shrink the tumor, and he still has a long road ahead of him once the tumor is small enough to be removed surgically. Our family has been doing our best to support Johnny during this incredibly difficult time, but he really needs the financial and emotional support from the community as well. Any support that can be given will be extremely appreciated by not only Johnny, but his friends and family too. From the bottom of our hearts, we truly thank everyone for helping to alleviate at least some of the burden off of Johnny.
