It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of my nephew, Johnny Hang. Johnny’s parents came to America as refugees. Johnny was the oldest of seven children. His parents knew very little English and worked where they could to support their children. Like many first generation children, Johnny had to learn everything by himself, be his parents' translator, and act as the family advocate. As Johnny’s aunt, I had the privilege of watching him take his first steps, see him grow up into a successful young man, and watch him go off to college and excel in his career. Johnny was a positive role model for his siblings, a good son who his parents could rely on, and a friend to those around him. Johnny was only 32 years old with so much potential ahead of him. Johnny’s departure has come as a shock to all of us who knew and loved him. Johnny’s parents are not only grieving the loss of their son, but struggling to honor him with a proper memorial service due to this unforeseen tragedy. Unfortunately Johnny had no life insurance and a proper burial is rather expensive. For this reason, his family is asking for your help with monetary donations to help with the financial challenge they are facing. No pain is greater than a parent losing a child, so any help is greatly appreciated. Once a date and funeral home is picked it will also be announced so that all that new and loved him can attend. On behalf of him and his family I thank you.
