My name is Allen. I met Johnna in 1996 and fell in love instantly. She became my entire world. We moved to California in 1998 and raised three awesome boys. In our 25 years of marriage, we have had the highest highs and very few lows. We've faced every challenge like it was a dare!

Two years ago, we started planning for our next great adventure: retiring in France! We worked hard, put together our plans and our paperwork, and got our Resident Visas in December 2024!

Landing in Paris on January 17th, along with our travel kitty, Mojo, we took the high-speed train to Lyon—our starting off point for our new lives as retirees in Europe! Learning the language, and immersing ourselves in French culture is a dream come true for us. Our two-year plan is to get better acquainted with the country and then pick out where we want to spend our golden years.

A short while ago, following routine dental work, Johnna unexpectedly started feeling 'off.' Dizzy, out of sorts, a recurring pain in her ribs that could not be explained. On the evening of May 7th, 2025, we went to urgent care at Hôpital de La Croix Rousse and then were transported to Lyon Sud Hospital.

The doctors there informed us she has developed Leukemia. A sudden, painful onset, for which immediate treatment is needed to save her life.

The treatment is both intensive and expensive. Your donations will help pay costs not covered by our insurance, as well as travel expenses, cleaning supplies to ensure she has a virus-free environment, the cost of international communication with family, and comfort measures, like blankets, nightgowns, and even a stuffed kitty or two!
