My name is Johnathan and I've dedicated my personal and professional life to fighting racism within higher education and teaching others to do the same. I was hired by UCLA’s world-renowned DEI Office in 2019 and soon became Director of Race & Equity.
Unfortunately, I was recently fired from my position after sharing personal social media posts referencing Charlie Kirk. This termination by UCLA, a government institution, is a clear violation of my First Amendment right to free speech, among others. This sudden loss of employment has left me facing significant professional, personal and, most immediately, financial challenges.
I am now preparing to sue UCLA for unjust termination and violation of my First Amendment rights. The costs for this lawsuit are substantial and I am also facing urgent expenses for relocation to Philadelphia and rent and penalty costs for my current place in Los Angeles. On top of these challenges, I have two dogs and two cats who require care and support during this transition, adding to the financial and emotional strain.
I am reaching out for support from my community and anyone who believes in not just fighting racism, but standing up for free speech and fairness during these stunning times.
Any contribution, no matter the size, will help me fight for justice and stability as I work to rebuild my life. Thank you for your kindness, encouragement, and solidarity during this challenging time.
