Dear friends, family, and compassionate souls around the world, we are reaching out to you today with heavy hearts and hopeful spirits to support two extraordinary individuals, John and Sasha.
Recently, in October of 2024, they closed their beloved neighborhood pub, The Rugby House, a warm and welcoming gathering spot for our community. After many years, what seems like a lifetime, dedicated to the service industry, they are now facing an unimaginable challenge.
This past Tuesday 3/3/26, John suffered a debilitating headache at work, which led to swift action from Sasha and John’s best friends, getting him to Allen Presbyterian ER. Within minutes of the CAT scan, we received the devastating news: John has brain cancer.
Within a few short hours filled with panic, and disbelief, John was transferred to Dallas Presbyterian with Sasha by his side for further scans, where doctors revealed that the cancer is stage four melanoma that has aggressively attacked his entire body—inside and out.
The Situation
John's condition is critical, however doctors are optimistic that with proper and immediate treatment, we can heal his body.
He has multiple tumors in his brain.
His right lung is almost completely overtaken by tumors.
His L4 spine has been fractured due to a tumor.
His body, inside and out has been riddled with this aggressive Stage 4 melanoma.
John is set to begin radiation and immunotherapy as soon as they can secure the necessary funds. In addition, he will start holistic healing at Graith Healing Spa, where he will undergo a comprehensive body detox & multi-light therapy with an experienced holistic team. His whole body needs healing, from traditional to alternative, and we are starting the process immediately. However, John and Sasha do not have any health insurance and without immediate financial assistance, these vital treatments may remain out of reach, putting his chances of recovery at risk. They have applied for emergency medicaid and are hopeful to be accepted in the next week.
Why We Need Your Help
John and Sasha have always been pillars of our community—sharing their love and hospitality with everyone who walked through their doors. Now, it’s our turn to support them in this dire time. They face not only the physical and emotional challenges of this battle but also the overwhelming financial burden it brings. Your donations will go directly toward:
-Medical treatments and emergency procedures.
-Hospital bills that are accumulating.
-Ongoing care as John begins his treatments.
-Supporting Sasha as she stands by John's side without income, as both are unable to work currently, including day to day bills, and an entirely new lifestyle for John.
-We don't know how exactly to put a financial estimate on this, as is is all so new!
How You Can Help

We understand that times are tough for many. However, we believe that together, we can make a difference for John and Sasha during this challenging time. Let’s rally together, show our love, and ensure they receive the support they need to overcome this battle. We believe that John is STRONG & STUBBORN in all the right ways for this enormous uphill battle. Please feel free to reach out to them, but please give them time as they are both currently processing what is happening. If we have people in our village that have ideas, connections, anything that can help our friends, please do not hesitate to reach out. We've got BOOTS ON THE GROUND with Billy, Dana, Big Mike, Mike C, & Mike T. If you'd like to reach out to any of these guys, they are up to date on the info as we get it.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and for any support you can provide. Let's raise our voices and hearts to help John and Sasha!
With gratitude and hope,
John & Sasha’s Village
