Support John Walker's Double Lung Transplant

My name is Tonya Walker and I am starting this Go Fund Me to help my brother in law and his family. My brother in law, John Walker, was diagnosed with COPD in February just before driving to Nevada to see his brother who was dying of Glioblastoma Brain Cancer. In April John ended up in the hospital because his oxygen level was very low. He spent a week in the hospital and was told he had Emphysema and that there was some pockets in his lungs and would need to see a specialist. He was sent home on oxygen. In May he went to the specialist which is 1.5 hours away from his house to be told that he was very sick and that he needs a double lung transplant. He was admitted at that time as well because he was really sick. After another week in the hospital he was sent home. He has been to many appointments and has had many test which all confirm the need for a double transplant. John and Randi own their own cleaning business. But due to Johns illness he can no longer be around the chemicals nor does he have the energy to work so this has really put a burden on them financially. Randi and John have 8 children. 6 are still in the home. They are also proud grand parents to a beautiful grand daughter. John really wants to see all of his children graduate high school as well as see his grand daughter grow up. The last thing John or Randi needs to worry about is how are they gonna afford this. The lung transplant alone is 1.5 million dollars which his insurance should cover mostly. But the part that has them worried is the that John will need to be in the hospital roughly 3-4 weeks as well as remain within 45 minutes of the hospital for a minimum of 3 months after the surgery. So with that being said Randi will not be able to work for an extended amount of time due taking care of John and the kids while living close to the hospital for roughly 4 months and that is the best case. They will also have a lot of prescriptions to be paying for. So the donations they receive will be used for paying their living expenses while in Chapell Hill which is where the hospital is and for his prescriptions and any copays. Randi has been looking for Airbnb's and they are running about $3500.00-$4000.00 a month to be able to accommodate this family.

My husband Rob, John's brother, passed away March 4th, 2024 and we do not want to lose John. So if you can find it in your heart to donate anything to this family we all would be so grateful. John is only 34 years old. This is heart breaking for the entire family but especially his wife and kids.
