Support John Sullivan’s Recovery After Multiple Strokes and Heart Surgery
I’m creating this GoFundMe for my grandfather, John Sullivan, who has recently faced a series of serious health challenges. Over the past month, he has suffered multiple transient ischemic attacks (TIAs) and been hospitalized several times.
On February 25th, while on his way to a follow-up appointment from his last hospital stay, my grandfather’s vision suddenly went black and white, and he began to feel unwell. He called an ambulance and was rushed to the hospital, where doctors discovered that his pacemaker was surrounded by a staph infection—an infection he contracted during his most recent surgery on December 6th when a new lead was put in.
The infection had caused blood clots to form, leading to mini strokes.
Recently, my grandfather underwent another major heart surgery to remove the infected pacemaker, clear the infection, and place a new pacemaker under his muscle, on top of his ribs. He is now in the early stages of recovery, but it will be a long road ahead. Despite being in pain, he still managed to video call his great-grandkids today—which shows how much he loves and values his family, even when he’s not feeling well.
John has always been the kind of person to drop everything to help someone else. Even after working long hours as a home health aide, he’d still find time to attend all the family functions or help someone in need, even if that means he's away from home from 8 a.m. to midnight. He’s always put others first, but now he needs help himself.
Doctors have told him he cannot work or lift anything until he’s fully healed and cleared by his physicians. Unfortunately, while he’s unable to work, his bills are quickly stacking up, including $200 per day for every day he’s been hospitalized, along with his regular living expenses.
We’re asking for any help you can give to support my grandfather during this difficult time. Your donation will help cover his medical bills and living expenses until he is able to return to work. Any amount helps and will be deeply appreciated.
Thank you for your support and prayers.
