Tragedy hit the Scott family on August 3rd, 2019 when John Scott, loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother was rushed to the emergency room by ambulance after his wife Lisa noticed signs of a possible stroke. Upon arriving to the hospital, John was diagnosed as having had a life-threatening stroke which caused massive bleeding to occur on the left side of his brain. Immediate specialized medical attention was needed which the current ER could not provide. John was prepped within minutes for life-flight to be taken to Memorial Hermann Downtown. Upon doctor and medical team examination, John was ultimately diagnosed as needing urgent surgery on his brain to remove the mass amounts of blood so that the pressure and furthering damage could be alleviated. John was in critical condition in the ICU for 16 days where he was given less than a 5% chance of survival. He was unable to eat, drink, carry himself, or speak due to the impact and complications from the hemorrhage in his brain.
As well as the brain surgery, John's medical bills have accumulated through numerous tests, examinations, medications, and general hospital expenses.
John has been caretaker of both household and family, but recently has gone from full-time salary as controller for a family-owned mortgage company, to part-time contract work. He is now unable to work for an undetermined amount of time so that he will be able to undertake the extensive amount of physical therapy and rehabilitation needed to bring him back to full function. At the time, his spouse Lisa was searching for employment herself. Because of this event, she is now unable to seek employment so that she can assist John daily through his rehabilitation journey. At this time neither John nor Lisa are receiving funds.
He is now currently at TIRR Memorial Hermann in The Woodlands for in-house rehabilitation, however the stay may very well be cut short due to insurance denial and lack of necessary funds. The specialized care that he will be needing also as out-patient is both daunting and worrisome, as it will require hefty funding for many, many months on top of the heavy bills that have accumulated throughout John's
hospital stay since the occurrence.
In this trying time, our family is asking assistance in John's recovery. Medical bills and expenses are continuously rising, and their day to day life is threatened because of this tragedy. If you are able to help monetarily in any way, John and Lisa would be beyond grateful for the generosity given in their time of need. The family will be providing updates on his progress through recovery, and the allocation of donation funds received will be continuously updated on the page as well. Thank you IMMENSELY for your goodwill, and for keeping John and our family in your prayers.
