Hi, my name is John Quidley Jr, and I’m reaching out during one of the most critical and vulnerable times in my life.
I am currently living with multiple serious chronic illnesses that have progressed to intestinal failure, requiring me to be on total parenteral nutrition (TPN) and palliative care. Every day is a fight to manage this medically complex reality, which includes gastroparesis, severe malnutrition, frequent hospitalizations, and complications stemming from genetic disorders like TNPO3 mutation and Lynch syndrome — a hereditary cancer syndrome that also took my father’s life in 2018.
Despite having dealt with health issues since childhood, I was able to live a relatively normal life growing up in Manteo, North Carolina. I graduated from Manteo High School in 2017 and spent the first 19 years of my life on the Outer Banks, surrounded by my tight-knit family. However, everything changed in 2022 and 2023 when multiple infections triggered a rapid decline in my health and revealed underlying genetic conditions I had no idea I carried.
Today, I require:
• Daily infusions of life-sustaining TPN
• Weekly IV iron treatments
• Specialty biologics like Dupixent
• Dozens of medications
• A central line that must be monitored constantly to avoid deadly infections
This care is incredibly costly and exhausting to maintain, and on top of that, I am preparing for a medically necessary relocation from Boston back home to North Carolina to be closer to my family — including my five older siblings (one brother and four sisters), and my many nieces and nephews who bring light to my life.
I’m asking for help to raise $3,000 to cover:
• Medical insurance premiums
• Out-of-pocket hospital and doctor bills
• Critical prescriptions and TPN supplies
• Relocation expenses and housing support as I transition back to NC
My partner Harry, who I’ve been with for four years, works 60–70 hours a week in business management and has been fully supporting me financially for the last year and a half, as I am no longer able to work. I’m currently working with a disability lawyer to apply for SSDI and SSI, but as many know, that process is long and uncertain.
This fundraiser is a lifeline — helping me stay alive, stay nourished, and get home to the people who love me most. Whether you can donate or just share, please know that your support means the world to me and is making a real difference in my fight to live fully despite my conditions and prognosis.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart,
John Quidley Jr.
