Support John Nurt In His Battle With Lung Cancer

To some of you, John is a friend, to others, John is a colleague and an incredibly talented landscape designer, but over all, he is to all of us, a kind and truly great man. John’s journey started back in June when he had what he and his doctor thought to be a chest cold. When he continued to struggle with the illness into late summer, his doctors decided to do an x ray of his chest.
The findings in this x ray took his journey on a very unexpected route.
After the x ray John had a biopsy, this biopsy led to the diagnosis of non-small cell lung cancer.
John was positive and upbeat about starting his treatment, which was to start on October 30th. On October 26th, John was admitted into the ICU at Roswell. He had a 4-day stay in the ICU, during which he had 1.8 liters of fluid removed from around his heart. The fluid removed was positive for cancer cells, and the journey took another unexpected turn. This led to a diagnosis of stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer.
John started his first round of chemo on October 31st.
John’s intention with this process is to be done with his treatment by spring, so he can jump back into work for the busy season.
John is husband to Kathleen and father to Isabella and John Patrick; Isabella is a junior at The University at Buffalo, and an amazing help to her dad.
Many of you already know some of his continuing journey, and I know you have also asked what you can do to help. After speaking with John, he has finally agreed to let us post his story and ask you all for help. There are many unknowns and having the help to meet medical co-pays and deductibles can bring a piece of mind to their lives during this time.
We would like to ask you for a donation to help ease the worry of the cost of his medical care and responsibilities of his family.
John has said he is going to fight this and will keep fighting this. Please donate what you can to help; any contribution can make an impact.
We will continue to update this page with his progress.
Thank you for your help
