Support John in Regaining His Bright Smile

We are here to ask for your help and support for John Wilber. John used to play guitar and write his own songs. He could also blow a mean mouth harp.

John used to paint peoples houses in the Sauk Centre area where he still resides. John had a wanderlust and would ofter take off traveling; not by car but by thumb. He spent many nights sleeping under bridges, hard traveling like Woody Guthrie and Cisco Houston did back in the day. John was a real life folk and blues troubadour.

In 2005, John traveled down to New Orleans and was making a record of songs that he was writing and then Hurricane Katrina happened. John spent months volunteering to help the people of Louisiana. He then came back to Melrose to paint houses and make some money so he could take off again.

Quite a few years ago now, John was in a bad way and took too many pain meds.

He went to sleep on his arm for 14 hours and when he awoke; he could not feel his arm. There was hope that the use of his arm would come return; but a year later he had his arm amputated. That was the end of John's guitar playing. He was still able to record some of his songs with the legendary guitarist and record producer John Inmon in Austin Texas.

John's house painting days were also over, but he was able to work for a friend caring for a special needs child until that also went away. John now lives in Sauk Centre in government assisted housing and limited income; but still remains a cherished citizen of the community. John has many friends; but very little money.

John is now in a situation where he desperately needs dentures. He talked to a dentist friend who is willing to do the work for cost; but there will still remain about $1,800 needed by October 2nd. John is also having cataract surgery on September 23rd. He has medical assistance; but it does not cover the costs of meds he will need for his eye. He could also use some help with bills and cost of living.
