Our insurance stop all future testing, they said as of now because of the surgery and all the MRI and CT he took first thing getting to the ER, so....we have to pay for all of it out of pocket when we got to get it done.Hello everyone, some people know and some do not. My husband John Hopkins was having issues with speech and was not able to move his whole right arm in March 2025. When arriving at Jennie Stuart ER, it was thought he had a mini-stroke. Upon testing, they ruled that out and quickly said he had a tumor on his brain and lung. He was sent to Vanderbilt by ambulance. After getting there, testing upon testing ruled it was time for brain surgery that Monday morning. They said it was not cancer of the brain but a really bad infection in the brain with swelling along with it. Since then, he still has the swelling and a spot on the lung, waiting for pathology to come back to 100 percent rule out lung cancer. He has to take around-the-clock medicine and get liquid antibiotics every 12 hours through a PICC line until the end of April, they are hoping, but it could be longer. We are having to travel each week starting this upcoming week to Vanderbilt for more testing and to see many doctors. This was a quick, fast overnight thing that changed our lives. We weren't thinking anything like this would happen. As of now, he and I are out of work because I have to take care of him. This is a day-by-day waiting game and seems to be months down the line before it will go back to how it was before. He still has no movement in the right arm. With a lot of therapy, we pray it comes back in time. Anything will help, and if you can't, please keep the prayers coming for us. We are not out of the woods just yet.
