The Forehand family would like to thank everyone for their continued support and prayers. For those who haven’t heard, on July 1, 2025, John Forehand, age 56, husband and father of six, suffered a devastating ischemic stroke caused by a blood clot in the brain. After much evaluation, he was admitted to the Neuro ICU. To complicate his progress, John had pre-existing diabetes, significant congestive heart failure and developed pneumonia.

On day 13, John was moved to a room in the neuro step down unit, where he remains at this time. His prognosis is unclear, but he will be moved to a long term, skilled nursing home when released from the hospital. He continues to struggle with right side paralysis, blood clots, he is non-verbal and can not swallow, diabetes, and congestive heart failure. His heart struggles to pump enough oxygen-rich blood to his brain to promote healing and he continues to be only minimally responsive.

John’s family has been made aware that he is considered extremely high risk for a cardiac, stroke, or aspiration event. The possibility of John becoming fully functional again is slim and he will be in a nursing facility for an undetermined amount of time.

Tammy Forehand, John’s spouse of 28 years, is a special education teacher, mother of six children ages 12 to 26, and grandmother to two. She has now become the head of a one income family for the foreseeable future. Additionally, Tammy is the primary caregiver to her elderly mother, who lives with her and is recovering from lymphatic cancer, as well as having two kids in college and one in middle school. As you can imagine, the family is incurring astronomical medical debt daily as John faces a long and uncertain road to recovery. Unfortunately, everyday life and its expenses do not pause while you have a loved one in the hospital.
