For over 25 years, John Corrado has dedicated his life to serving and protecting our communities. John proudly served as a police officer and head detective with Swissvale Borough, and previously with East Pittsburgh and Versailles, PA. He is a true public servant, a Blue Knight, and a staple of our community.

At just 55 years old, John is now facing the fight of his life.

John was recently diagnosed with Stage IV adenocarcinoma with metastasis to the liver. A biopsy from his scull is still pending. Because of the severity of his illness, John could be forced to retire early, resulting in a significant reduction to the pension he worked decades to earn.

John began radiation treatment today, Monday, December 29th, and will undergo 10 rounds of radiation to start. Following radiation, he will begin chemotherapy on January 5th, including aggressive FLI chemotherapy. The number of chemo rounds will depend on how his body responds to treatment.

Through all of this, John remains exactly who he’s always been—strong, kind, and determined.

If you know John, you know his smile. Even on the job, he always had one. You’ve probably seen him at his favorite local pub, enjoying breakfast— “The Plain John,” a dish named after him because he frequented it so often while working. You could usually catch him watching an episode of Friends, greeting everyone like family. John would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.

John is married to his wife Amy, his partner and best friend of 20 years this coming July. Their love is genuine, steady, and inspiring. Together, they’ve raised their daughter Michelina, who just began her freshman year of college, a proud and exciting milestone, now shadowed by uncertainty.

This fundraiser is to help ease the financial burden placed on John and his family during this incredibly difficult time—medical expenses, lost income, travel, and daily living costs—so they can focus on what truly matters: John’s fight and their time together.
