Support John and Lauren's Transplant Recovery

We are raising funds to help offset medical and living costs for John and Lauren Falls as they undergo kidney transplant and kidney donation surgery, respectively. John was diagnosed with kidney disease in 2022 and his condition quickly deteriorated, landing him in complete kidney failure earlier this year. He has already undergone surgery to create a fistula so that he can start dialysis, but will soon need to go in for a kidney transplant. While several family members rallied to support John and applied to be donors, it is John’s wife Lauren who has been caring for and supporting John on this journey to find a new kidney, and by the Grace of God she has an extremely healthy kidney to donate and THEY ARE A MATCH!

The transplant surgery will take place at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in July or August of this year. While this quick turnaround time is a blessing, it doesn’t leave much time for their family to save funds to travel and stay down in Charleston for the recovery period (~1-2 months) and to pay for hospital bills that are not covered by insurance. The fact that both John and Lauren are undergoing surgery at the same time creates an additional financial burden, considering that neither will be able to return to work immediately following their transplant/donation procedures. Additionally, their only daughter is leaving for college in the Fall, and will not be able to assist financially, as she will be incurring her own costs associated with her pursuit of higher education.

John has dedicated his life to helping and caring for others, as a licensed therapist, and we want to help ensure that he is taken care of in his time of need so he can go on to lead a long and meaningful life, continuing to make a difference in this world.
