Hi there, I am 77 years old living in Hollywood at a senior housing apartment for low-income seniors. I have CLL leukemia and heart disease. My friend for 53 years, Mark, had brain surgery for hydrocephalus to put a shunt into his brain to relieve pressure on the brain. After surgery, I was staying with him to take care of him during his recovery. I had parked on the street in front of his apartment at that time. When I went outside to drive home after about a week, my car was gone.
I called the Sheriff's department and was told that my car had caught fire and been totaled after the car parked behind me had caught fire from a bad battery. The person who owned that car texted me that he had not renewed his insurance. He did not call me as any decent civilized person would have done, nor did he offer to make any kind of restitution.
I had just bought the 2008 Toyota Camry in June. I took $5,500.00 out of savings and used that and the sale of my old car to California Retirement Center for $1,500.00.
I have never asked for charity before and have always worked. All I want is enough to buy another Toyota Camry used car. I need a car to go to doctor's appointments and take care of my friend. Can you help, please? Love and hope to all of you who suffer these days, John
