Johanna, my sister, has endured an abusive marriage for 25 years. On the night of March 2, 2026, her husband, who struggles with bipolar disorder and alcoholism, woke her up and began harassing and physically attacking her. Her teenage son was also attacked and bravely called the police for help. Sadly, this was not the first time the police have been involved—this has been an ongoing struggle for years, with no real resolution or safety for her and her children.

Johanna has been a devoted stay-at-home mom for 20 years and has full custody of her granddaughter, who has Down Syndrome. Now, with her husband in jail for assault, she is facing the urgent need to break her lease, fight legal battles, and move herself and her children to safety. She is up against a ruthless partner who has threatened to take her children and everything she owns, making this transition even more frightening and difficult.

Johanna needs help to cover the costs of divorce, moving, and storage, as well as to provide stability for her children during this critical time.
