Our daughter, Johannah has been diagnosed with Triple Negative Invasive Breast Cancer a rare and very aggressive form of breast cancer affecting mostly younger women under 40 years old.
Johannah is a 38 year old devoted mother of 4 beautiful children ages 6 months, 9, 15 and 19 years old. Finally, the family was enjoying their newest addition after he had been in the NICU for nearly a month. The baby was born preterm and had some medical complications. He is currently receiving weekly early intervention therapy for developmental delays.
While breastfeeding him, she felt a lump in her breast and immediately sought medical care.
Johannah had just returned to work from maternity leave before receiving the devastating news of breast cancer.
She has been a devoted nurse for over 12 years and her loving husband, Jonathan, is a corrections officer. They both have worked endless overtime hours over the years just to be able to provide for their family. Their oldest son is in his first year of college. After being told of his mother’s breast cancer, he wanted to quit school, come back home and get a full time job to help the family with expenses and to help with the care of his younger siblings. It took his parents much convincing for him to agree to return to school.
Johannah and Jonathan are extremely devoted parents and their four children have always been their top priority. The household has been lively, loving and full of joy. Many of their children’s friends have been continuously welcomed here. Now the family’s whole world has been turned upside down. In addition to this heartbreaking diagnosis, an extreme financial burden is ahead them. Johannah faces 6 months of chemo, breast surgery, possible radiation and continued immunotherapy infusions. This alone will be 12 months of treatment. Yet her bravery, unselfishness and kindness is unsurpassed. With her many, many, medical appts, including her recent surgery for a chemo port implant, she continues to cheerfully care for the children, attends their many activities and school events, cooks the family’s delicious meals, including a special Valentine’s family dinner celebration. She also sings to the baby as she gives him a bath and cuddles on the couch with her kids and husband as they enjoy their movie night. Many days she is not feeling well, but she puts that aside. She wants to spend every moment she can with the family and make it memorable as the uncertainty of the future weighs on her.
They are now down to one income, although expenses have risen exceedingly beyond what is manageable. Hospital bills have already started piling up.
Any donations received will assist in paying medical expenses and help with the monthly bills in order to keep the family afloat while they face this daunting challenge.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for any and all donations. And thank you most sincerely for sharing this GoFundMe with others. Also, many thanks for taking the time to read this and please keep Johannah and her family in your thoughts and prayers. Take care and give an extra hug to your love ones!
